How Bristol City's season ticket prices compare to Sunderland, Cardiff and their league rivals

Bristol City have the joint-most expensive adult season ticket in the Championship alongside Middlesbrough with a top price of £675.

The Robins have sold more than 13,000 season tickets ahead of the upcoming season with optimism growing around BS3 that Nigel Pearson and his side have put the building blocks in place for a successful campaign.

City's season ticket prices rose by approximately 3 per cent this year compared to last, which is less than the 9.2 per cent rise of inflation, but it hasn't deterred fans from making the commitment to watch the Robins in regular action starting with a home match to Sunderland on August 6.

The costliest ticket stands at £675 for an adult to be seated in the upper Lansdown Stand on the centre of the pitch which works out at £29.35 a game. The cheapest is £390 for non-members in the South Stand which equates to a reasonable £16.95 per match. Although it's the joint 12th cheapest in the league.

It's also worth noting that City have included a number of deals for select home matches including a mates rates offer for the first home game of the season against the Black Cats.

Bristol City have offered a ticket incentive for the opening home match of the season against Sunderland with season ticket holders able to bring two friends for just £12.50 each. Members can also claim a ticket for £15, available in the South Stand, Family Area and Dolman Wings. The same members discount also applies to the home match against Huddersfield at the end of August.

The club are also offering Under-12s a free home shirt, with more than 1,400 season tickets sold in that age category where season tickets start at a very reasonable £55.

In comparison to City's Championship rivals, the Robins do have one of the costliest entry fees with Queens Park Rangers the cheapest, according to data from the Mirror. The London side's most cost-effective season ticket is £235 which comes to just £10.21 although their most expensive is £640.

Swansea also have good value for money with a set-price of £345 for all season tickets in each stand while Cardiff's cheapest is also just £249. Boro share the most expensive season ticket with the Robins although their cheapest still stands at a pricey £514.

Hull, City's first opponents of the season, have used a different initiative with fans paying between £25 and £35 per month over a 12 month period.

There's been a lot of debate over ticket prices this week sparked by Reading who are offering clubs the chance to reciprocate a £20 away entry fee. Only five clubs have taken them up on the offer including Cardiff, Blackburn, Huddersfield, Swansea and Watford.

City have opted against the scheme as it's not financially feasible with the club claiming they will need to levie the lost revenue by charging home fans more to help reach revenue targets.
