Rome is famed across the world for its incredible historic buildings and truly unique cultural offerings. But you've probably never heard of its cheaper cousin, lying just south of the iconic capital city.
Latina is surrounded by sea and boasts a stunning lake, nearby islands, and towering mountains. And unlike, Rome, prices are relatively cheap for food and accommodation.
According to Booking.com, you can rent a 'deluxe double room' in a hotel for just £47 per night. Airbnb also has private rooms on offer for around £48.

Latina serves as a relatively cheap base for people exploring Rome as travellers can reach the capital in less than an hour's drive. The destination also offers stunning seaside views, homes one of Italy's biggest plane museums, and has lots of options for people who enjoy walking.
Day trips from the spot head out to a stunning island called Palmarola, which has been hailed as one of the best in Europe.
One TripAdvisor reviewer said: "Rent a boat and take a cooler with you and will forget the world...believe me...beautiful place...and at night go back to Ponza..and have dinner at any restaurant at the marina."
Another wrote: "That's the most beautiful island in the Mediterranean Sea."
Bird-spotters can also head to the city's Lago di Fogliano lake, where our feathery friends are spotted en masse. There's also a stunning Botanical Garden and Villa Fogliano which was constructed in the 19th century.
One reviewer said: "Beautiful and very relaxing place to be in touch with nature. The lake is very clean that gives you the idea to swim. I just hope I had more time to just sit and relax and enjoy the view."
For people planning to travel to Latina, daily flights leave from Bristol Airport to Naples. The cheapest fare in June is around £34. From Naples, you can either hire a car or jump on a train.
