How Arsene Wenger could be key to Arsenal completing £50m Pedro Neto transfer

Wolves starlet Pedro Neto continues to be linked with a summer transfer to Arsenal.

The Athletic have reported that Neto is the north London club's priority winger target as manager Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his wide options given Nicolas Pepe appears to be closing in on a move to Ligue 1 outfit Nice on a season-long loan. Reports have suggested that the Portuguese attacker will cost around £50 million to sign this summer but the player's previous love of former Gunners boss Arsene Wenger may help Arsenal's negotiating stance.

When asked by talkSPORT in 2020 who his favourite Premier League team was, the 22-year-old replied: "When I was a kid my favourite team in England was Arsenal. No, no, no [not Liverpool or Manchester United], Arsenal.

"Because with Arsene Wenger I thought besides [not] winning trophies they played very good football. Now I’m with Wolverhampton and I'm very happy! Of course, it’s the best club in England now.”

It remains to be seen whether or not Mikel Arteta's side would be willing to pay Wolves' asking price but the youngster's stance on Arsenal could potentially make personal terms easier given his love for the club.
