How Arsenal could seal Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo transfer amid Chelsea and Man Utd interest

Arsenal may still reignite their interest in Brighton star Moises Caicedo this summer, after dropping back in the race to land the midfielder. The Gunners have been admirers of the Ecuadorian international, having made an attempt to land him in the January transfer window.

The north London outfit put in a huge offer for the 21-year-old, which was rejected by the Seagulls, but the midfielder was determined to push through a transfer. A statement on his Instagram thanked everyone at Brighton for the opportunity he had to play for the club, but wanted to explore a move elsewhere.

This didn't seem to put any pressure on the club though, who stood firm and would later land a contract extension with Caicedo for the long-term. However, the plan from there on looked to be for a sale in the summer anyway, with reports claiming that the youngster had a deal with Roberto De Zerbi to allow an exit.

It means plenty of teams have joined the race to land a player that could shape a midfield for the foreseeable future, though the expectation is of a high price tag. For Arsenal, that may be unattainable as football.london understands that Declan Rice is a top priority target for the summer.

The England international is expected to leave West Ham for anywhere between £90million and £120million, meaning a switch for Caicedo at roughly the same price may be unlikely. Romeo Lavia has been touted as a potentially cheaper option following Southampton's relegation from the Premier League.

As a result, Chelsea and Manchester United are the main teams in the frame to make a move, though football.london understands that the Blues are reluctant to meet the quoted £80million valuation. Hesitancy from both clubs could see them open the door back to the Gunners in the race.

That's because, according to the Telegraph, Caicedo could be an option to Arsenal once again if Thomas Partey leaves the club this summer. The Ghanaian has been linked with a potential exit, having been on the radars of Juventus and a number of Saudi Pro League teams.

It remains to be seen if a move will be made for Caicedo in the coming weeks at Arsenal, with questions remaining over whether they could afford a huge double deal.
