How Arsenal could line up with three new signings after January transfer spending spree

Mikel Arteta has overseen a remarkable turnaround of fortune at Arsenal, with the Gunners flying high two points ahead of nearest challengers Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

After a disastrous capitulation with three games to go last term ended their hopes of Champions League qualification, many fans and pundits alike feared the worst for Arsenal and Arteta moving forward. Their fast start to the current campaign has gone some way to silencing the critics.

Their rise to the top spot has been helped largely by consistency in Arteta's choice of starting eleven. The Gunners have, for the most part, avoided any injuries to their most important players and have been able to field the same line up that is working in perfect tandem nowadays.

Arteta has used 15 starters so far this term, with the likes of Granit Xhaka, Bukayo Saka and Ben White all being called upon every week, which in turn has sparked fears of fatigue, especially with the World Cup on the horizon.

The Arsenal boss will know better than most how quickly a season can derail when a key player picks up even a minor knock. As a result, Arteta is reportedly keeping tabs on a number of different players to potentially try and entice to the Emirates this January.

21-year-old Palmeiras star Danilo is thought to be a priority for Arsenal as they aim to bolster their options in the centre of midfield, an area where an addition is deemed essential due to the concerning past track record of Thomas Partey's fitness.

The Brazilian league season concludes shortly before the World Cup and those at the top of the Gunners hierarchy are confident Palmeiras could be tempted into accepting a £26million offer for one of their most valuable assets.

Another position Arteta has made little secret of his desire to strengthen is out wide to try and ease the workload on Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. Shakhtar Donetsk's young Ukrainian international Mykhaylo Mudryk caught the eye last summer and his thunderous strike in the Champions League against Celtic on Tuesday is likely to have only added to the lingering interest from multiple clubs.

The 20-year-old left-winger has dropped a number of hints that he would be keen on a move to the Emirates, including 'liking' an Instagram post of himself mocked up in an Arsenal shirt back in August.

Villarreal's Yeremy has emerged as another option for the Gunners as they look to add to their list of talented young wide-players, with the 20-year-old establishing himself as one of the brightest sparks in LaLiga.

Similarly to Saka, Yeremy boasts plenty of experience due to breaking into the Yellow Submarine's first-team at a very early age. He has lined up for Villarreal on 91 occasions as well as six caps for the Spanish national team.

The Gunners are reportedly in line to enjoy a £50m injection of cash to their already existing transfer budget in January, according to The Sun.

Should they sign all three of Danilo, Mudryk and Yeremy, it would hand Arsenal a huge boost going into the second half of the season when they may still be in the title race.

Arteta wouldn't even need to alter his favoured four-two-three-one formation if he landed the signatures of all three of the aforementioned targets.

Arsenal have often set up with a defensive midfield pairing in front of the back-four that Danilo could slot right in to, while Mudryk and Yeremy would share minutes with Martinelli and Saka out on the left and right flanks respectively.

Potential Arsenal line-up after January (4-2-3-1): Ramsdale; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Danilo, Xhaka; Mudryk, Odegaard, Yeremy, Jesus
