The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship delivered an incredible finish on Sunday, with Paul Waring claiming the biggest win of his career following a stunning six-under 66.
Waring, who led by a single stroke going into the final day, carded six birdies and 12 pars in an incredible performance, as he held off the likes of Rory McIlroy, Tyrrell Hatton, Tommy Fleetwood, and many more!
The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship plays as the first event of the DP World Tour's playoffs and, with the top 50 heading through to the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai next week, there was plenty to play for at Yas Links.
Included in the 70 man field this week were three LIV Golfers, with Hatton, Joaquin Niemann and Adrian Meronk all playing in Abu Dhabi. Jon Rahm was also part of the top 70, but opted not to play following the birth of his third child, Alaia Cahill.
Of the three LIV Golfers, it was Hatton who performed the best as, thanks to an eight-under-par final round of 64, he set the clubhouse target at 22-under and, had it not been for Waring's heroics over the final few holes, he may well have added another Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship to his CV.
Along with Hatton, who won the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship last month, Niemann produced another fine performance on the DP World Tour, as a three-under-par final round of 69 meant he finished in solo 23rd.
Sitting 33rd in the Race to Dubai standings, the Chilean will be at the DP World Tour Championships next week and, thanks to two rounds of 66 and one round of 69, Niemann is heading to Dubai in excellent form.
Rounding out the final LIV place is Meronk who, following rounds of 71, 72, 64 and 69, finished in a share of 37th place. Finishing eighth and fourth in the past two Race to Dubai's, Meronk is set to feature in Dubai, next week, for a fourth consecutive season.
