How and where to watch Newcastle United in the Champions League next season

Newcastle United will play in the Champions League next season for the first time in 20 years after their top-four Premier League finish this term.

Eddie Howe's side defied odds to beat the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea to finish in the top four and earn the right to play Champions League football for the first time since exiting in the qualifying stages in 2003. This time around they'll go straight into the group stages.

That means the Magpies could face the prospect of trips to the likes of Madrid and Milan, Paris or Barcelona. And while tickets for such trips will be in high demand, not every Newcastle fan will be able to get their hands on a ticket and will be forced to cheer on from home.

In such a scenario, where would Toon fans be able to watch Howe's side make their return to the grandest European stage? That would be BT Sport, with the broadcaster having the rights to all Champions League games for the 2023-24 season.

The last time Newcastle competed in the competition live coverage was still on terrestrial TV on ITV, but BT Sport secured the rights in 2015 and have shown all European competitions since. They renewed their deal last summer and will have the rights to broadcast the competition until 2027.

All matches are broadcast live by BT via a red button when necessary. But with four dedicated channels, Newcastle United can expect all of their games in the Champions League to receive the full works with pre and post match analysis.

For supporters who don't already have BT Sport, subscriptions are available depending on who your current TV package is with. You can also get a no-contract, monthly pass which costs £29.99 and allows you to watch games either via the BT Sport app or via the web player.
