How Allan Saint-Maximin has bounced back from previous injuries ahead of Fulham clash

Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin has certainly been one of, if not the best player at St. James' Park over the last few seasons with his goal and assist numbers finding him fans across the Premier League.

However, if there is a downfall for the Frenchman, it's his proneness to injury having missed a total of 37 games due to being on the doctor's table, including the Magpies' previous three and could miss their match at Craven Cottage this weekend.

But if there's ever a silver lining to the injury crisis that seems to constantly plague Saint-Maximin, it's his ability to bounce back from his woes - and here's how he's previously done so after some of his worst injuries to date.

Groin Injury - 35 days (February 28, 2021 - April 4, 2021)

After suffering a groin injury in a 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Saint-Maximin missed four matches in which Newcastle only scored a single goal.

He'd find two goal involvements in just his second game back from injury, however - a goal and an assist coming against Burnley in a 33-minute substitute appearance in a 2-1 win.

Hamstring Injury - 39 days (December 9, 2019 - January 17, 2020)

Saint-Maximin suffered a hamstring injury in Newcastle's 2-1 win over Southampton which would see him miss eight games across the winter. He made his full return against Chelsea at St. James' Park, providing the assist for Isaac Hayden's 94th-minute winner.

It'd take the Frenchman another month before finding the net again, though, as he scored in back-to-back games against the Saints and Sheffield United before providing a hat-trick of assists against Bournemouth to truly show his talents in a Magpies shirt.

Calf Injury - 61 days (November 22, 2020 - January 22, 2021)

Over the longest injury of his career, Saint-Maximin would miss nine games over two months before making a slow return into the first team in a succession of substitute appearances.

Playing just 95 minutes over the four Premier League matches after recovering from his injury, his first time back in the starting XI saw him find two assists against Southampton within an hour before finding Newcastle's solo goal in a 3-1 defeat to Manchester United two games later.
