How a 28-year-old (!) MLB player will now walk on to Arkansas to play college football

Monte Harrison’s story just took quite a turn.

He was a second round pick of the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2014 MLB Draft out of high school and eventually was dealt to the Miami Marlins in 2018 as part of the Christian Yelich deal.

He was released, signed with the Los Angeles Angels, signed with the Brewers last year … and now he’s going to play football. But not in the NFL! No, he’s going to walk on to Arkansas’s football squad as a wide receiver, meaning we’re going to be making a lot of memes and jokes like this one this fall:

But the dude is athletic!

More from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

According to an Arkansas spokesperson, Monte Harrison committed to the Razorbacks Monday and will join the football team as a walk-on. Harrison logged 68 at-bats across three MLB seasons, last appearing with the Los Angeles Angels in 2022. …

According to 247sports, Harrison was recruited by Arkansas but never received a scholarship offer to play football.

Can’t wait to see him out there!
