Arsenal are set for another transfer window where the focus will be placed predominantly on overhauling the squad.
The Gunners began the process of shifting out many first-team players last summer who the club deemed surplus to requirements, along with adding young players who are tailored to the modern game and fit into Mikel Arteta's style of football, which is commonly known as positional play.
An area in which the Gunners are definitely planning to strengthen is at centre forward.
Dusan Vlahovic was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates in the January window but the Serbian ended up at Italian giants Juventus.
The likes of Alexandar Isak, Dominic Calvert Lewin and Jonathan David are rumoured to be targets previously but perhaps Arteta's men might make a move for Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic.
Recent developments have suggested that Arsenal are among a quintet of clubs across Europe who are interested in acquiring his signature.
The 24-year-old arrived at Real Madrid from German club Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2019 in a big-money deal worth £50 million but has looked a shadow of his former self, struggling to inspire any sort of confidence on the pitch.
But Serbian footballer isn't the first player to have struggled to deliver an impact for the Spanish giants and perhaps the move was far too early for him.
Hypothetically speaking, if Arsenal were to sign Jovic, his role would be to lead the line.
One of Jovic's biggest strengths is his ability to hold onto the ball and remain secure in possession, which is a crucial quality Arteta demands from his centre forward.
Another area in which Jovic is strong is his ability to get shots off quickly along with possessing smart movement inside the penalty area.
Given the fact that the likes of Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Emile Smith Rowe possess a plethora of quality and would offer excellent service inside the box.

The negative with Jovic is that his best performances have come when partnered with someone during his time at Frankfurt, so there is uncertainty regarding whether he can provide sustainability leading the line as a lone striker in the Premier League.
With all things considered, it will be interesting to see if Arsenal do intensify their interest in Jovic in the upcoming window.
