The community of Uvalde, Texas continues to deal with the aftermath of the horrific shooting that took place at Robb Elementary School last May.
With a new school year upon us, the Houston Texans continue to offer their support and assistance.
This week, members of the Texans made a surprise visit to Uvalde High School to surprise the varsity football team at a dinner prior to their home opener. Head coach Lovie Smith and linebackers Kamu Grugier-Hill and Christian Kirksey made the trip, along with Director of Player Care and Sports Medicine Roland Ramirez, who grew up in Uvalde:

They visited with the team, and then Grugier-Hill and Kirksey were joined by Texans Chair and CEO Cal McNair and Texans Vice President Hannah McNair on “Good Morning America” to announce that the team was providing brand new uniforms for the football team this season, with assistance from Nike.
This continues the support the Texans have given the Uvalde community in the wake of last May’s tragedy. This summer, in an effort led by the players, the Texans raised $200,000 to support the Robb School Memorial Fund, which the organization matched.
The Texans will also wear a “Uvalde Strong” decal on their helmets in the season opener against the Indianapolis Colts at NRG Stadium.
