The legal tampering period in the NFL has opened up as of 11:00 a.m. Central Time Monday.
The tampering period allows for teams and players to agree upon deals, which will be consummated when the new league year kicks off at 3:00 p.m. Central Time on March 16.
General manager Nick Caserio told reporters on March 1 at the NFL Scouting Combine that the team’s participation in free agency would correlate to their salary cap space.
“I’d say your cap situation is also going to dictate the pool of players that you’re going to maybe have an opportunity to add to your roster during free agency, but I’d say philosophically our belief is the value of the player commensurate with the role, and you try to match those up,” Caserio said.
Even if the Texans won’t be making splashes, they will nevertheless dip their feet into the free agency pool. Here is a tracker of all of Houston’s moves this free agency period.
