Houston police have been involved in an armed standoff with a suspected gunman who shot three officers in the city.
The officers were taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital, and the police department says they are all in stable condition.
“The suspect fled the scene in a white Mercedes and is being sought at this time,” HPD tweeted.
The suspect, who was believed to have several weapons with him, barricaded himself in a home, Houston Police Officers’ Union President Douglas Griffith said.
Authorities say the violence unfolded after officers responded to a disturbance call, which ended in a chase.
When the chase ended, the subsequent gun battle was caught on security camera and shown on ABC13.
Riley Hollister, a witness to the shooting, told the news station he heard multiple gunshots, “more than 30 rounds or something”.
“I was doing a little walk, working on my knee and I heard all those gunshots and sirens.”
The latest shooting came just four days after Corporal Charles Galloway of Harris County Constable Precinct 5 was fatally shot during a traffic stop.
Oscar Rosales was later taken into custody by Mexican authorities in Ciudad Acuña, across the border from Del Rio, Texas.
The suspect was returned to the Houston area on Wednesday night.
Mr Rosales, 50, had entered the US illegally, according to a spokesperson for US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
