The incident took place in Houston's Second Ward, east of downtown, when an R44 helicopter struck a radio tower and went down shortly before 8 p.m. The helicopter was believed to have departed from Ellington Field, located approximately 15 miles away.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities or ages of the victims involved in the crash. It was clarified that the helicopter involved was not affiliated with the Houston Police Department but was a private touring helicopter, as stated by Houston City Councilmember Mario Castillo.
