Housing developer donates funds to Lanarkshire's Cool School Uniforms group

As part of its ongoing commitment to working in partnership with local communities, Taylor Wimpey West Scotland has donated £250 to Lanarkshire's Cool School Uniforms.

The three-figure sum will help boost the organisation's efforts to provide new school uniforms for children returning to schools across North Lanarkshire after the summer break.

Cool School Uniforms is a volunteer-led school uniform bank aiming to improve the lives of children in Airdrie, Coatbridge and their surrounding areas who are "experiencing financial hardship" by providing them with a brand-new uniform as well as clothing and equipment required for the school day.

The kind-hearted group accepts new and out-grown school uniform donations.

Commenting on the support, Julie O’Byrne, founder of Cool School Uniforms, told Lanarkshire Live : “We have around 200 families that need our help.

"This donation from Taylor Wimpey provides us with a welcome boost that we will use to supplement our much-needed stock of underwear and socks which, for hygiene reasons, we insist are new.

"We just can’t thank them enough for thinking about our group.”

Audrey Ross from Taylor Wimpey West Scotland told us : “We have been part of various local communities across North Lanarkshire, and specifically Airdrie and Coatbridge, for many years now.

"We welcome this opportunity to be involved in such an important local community group that is working hard right across the region.

“Being able to work with local charities and organisations where we build new homes means a great deal to us, and it’s always lovely to know that we are helping to make a difference to the lives of people in our local communities.”
