This unassuming terraced house has left property hunters rubbing their eyes - as its outlandish interior looks fit for a rock star. The ad on Rightmove for the £450,000 three-bed home in Edmonton, Greater London, boasts it 'must be seen' and despite its plain-looking exterior, a browse through the listing's interior photos soon reveals why.
Photos showcase the owner's apparent disdain for neutrals or anything ordinary with flamboyant art, neon and clashing colours, gaudy textured gold walls, VIP toilet seats and even a giant face protruding through one wall. One room alone features a bold colour palette of pillarbox red and lime green while another has multi-coloured marble-effect walls.
The Rightmove listing, marketed by 100 Key Properties, advises that early viewings are 'highly recommended' and highlights the property's high ceilings bathroom jacuzzi and gardens. The home was previously on the market in 2016, before the vendor decided against selling.
Online house hunters were stunned by the ostentatious interior design, claiming that some choices were 'migraine inducing' - even likening the decor to something by world-famous graphic artist M.C. Escher. Property-hunter Sarah tweeted: "Checking listings on Rightmove and I had to share this one." Dr Trudy Kearney tweeted in response: "Oh my! Every photo gets better and better (or worse and worse). Those walls!".
Lenny Martin tweeted: "You're going to need to be a lot more specific about which particular walls..." Sarah then replied : "Those ones - no these! Oh wait, the ones that look like someone's a huge fan of Escher!" Alisa Jane wrote: "You could just move in there, no decorating required," to which Sarah replied: "Just the pictures are migraine inducing..."
Jonathan Burnhams commented: "'Must be seen' indeed!" Alice Pattenden remarked: "That's a lot of statements for one property to make!"
The Rightmove description reads: "We are pleased to present this fantastic three double-bedroom terraced house to the market with self-contained outbuilding. The property comprises of: three double bedrooms, mid-terrace house with self-contained outbuilding to rear of property with separate access from the street.
"Comprises of: lounge, sitting room, dining room, open-plan kitchen, downstairs family bathroom with jacuzzi corner bath. Self-contained outbuilding to rear with access from the back, double glazed & centrally heated (where specified), front & rear gardens. Early viewing is highly recommended!"
A spokesperson for 100 Key Properties said: "100 Key Properties proudly listed this property in February 2022. It was great seeing such a different house on the market and seeing potential buyers' reactions."
