The only Grade II listed building in New Ferry is up for auction.
On the edge of New Ferry park, the two bedroom period property, dates back more than 110 years. Over the decades, it has had many uses and it now has planning permission to be transformed into a restaurant.
Originally constructed in 1904, on New Chester Road, the home sits on a plot with surrounding gardens and off road parking. The lot will go under the hammer on October 19, with a guide price of £75,000.

While semi-detached properties sold for an average of £145,523, with flats fetching £124,500. Overall, sold prices in New Ferry over the last year were 6% up on the previous year and 19% up on the 2019 peak of £116,478.
Called Park Lodge, the building boats many character features both inside and out, including bay windows, timber frames and a stone base. When it was originally built, the home belonged to the parkkeeper who would lock the gates on the other side of the park every night.
In the war years, the park behind the lodge was one of the few open spaces for air raid shelters to be built for the people in the local area. They could hold nearly 1,000 people and while the entrances were filled in, the shelters still exist to this day and can be seen as the mounds next to the children's play area.
During the 1970s and 1980s, the lodge was used by the council to store maintenance equipment. Grade II listed status was given to the lodge in 1986, making it the only building in the area to be awarded it.
For years it remained empty before being bought in 2000 and transformed into a popular tearooms café. The landmark building has also been a party venue, an animal sanctuary and most recently a children's day nursery.
The auction listing reads: “Two floor Grade II listed detached character building with gardens and off street parking. Planning permission has been granted for material change of use of the property from a children's nursery to a restaurant/café.”
