House Speaker Mike Johnson expressed his belief that a single large policy bill to enact President-elect Donald Trump’s agenda will come to fruition, despite some Senate Republicans advocating for two bills. Johnson emphasized the importance of aligning both chambers to move forward efficiently. He stated that the preference in the House is for one comprehensive bill due to a larger and more diverse caucus, which increases the probability of success in passing all agenda items.
President-elect Trump, who initially favored a single bill, later mentioned that the end result would be the same whether it's one or two bills. Johnson revealed discussions with Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Vice President-elect JD Vance regarding the single bill strategy during former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral.
Johnson expressed confidence in the progress, stating that all parties are working together towards a common goal. He assured reporters that the sequence and strategy for enacting the agenda are being finalized and will soon be revealed.

Regarding the possibility of working with Democrats on issues like state and local tax deductions (SALT) to secure their support, Johnson affirmed openness to collaboration. He emphasized the importance of bipartisan cooperation in passing what he described as 'great legislation.'
Johnson dismissed concerns about differing opinions on the number of bills as part of the deliberative process, emphasizing that it does not pose a threat to the overall package. He reiterated his confidence in the legislative process and the eventual success of enacting President-elect Trump's agenda.
