House Republicans Refer Hunter And James Biden To Justice Department

Department of justice U.S. Department of Justice U.S. Justice Department seal is seen at Justice Department headquarters in Washington

House Republicans have sent a criminal referral to the Justice Department for Hunter Biden and President Biden's brother James. The allegations stem from false statements made during closed-door depositions in February as part of the impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden.

The specific claims include Hunter Biden providing a fictitious account about a text message with a Chinese businessman and James Biden denying his father's meeting with a Biden family associate, which the committees allege they have evidence to the contrary.

The House committee chairmen state that Hunter and James Biden made materially false statements to the oversight and judiciary committees, implicating Joe Biden's involvement in his family's influence peddling.

However, it is crucial to note that Republicans have not yet substantiated any corrupt actions or quid pro quo involving Joe Biden in his son's business dealings. Despite efforts to build a case since the beginning of the Congress and the formal launch of the impeachment inquiry, the lack of support has prevented any progress towards impeaching Joe Biden.

While Republicans can issue criminal referrals, it does not guarantee action from the Justice Department. The Bidens have been contacted for comment but have not responded regarding the criminal referral.
