House Republicans Raise Million In First Quarter Of 2024

House Republicans work to choose a new Speaker of the House

The campaign arm of House Republicans has announced a significant fundraising achievement, raising more than $33 million in the first three months of 2024. This fundraising effort comes as GOP leaders gear up for a crucial battle to maintain and potentially expand their narrow majority in the House of Representatives in the upcoming November elections.

Rep. Richard Hudson, chair of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), highlighted the Republicans' strategic approach, stating that they are excelling in recruiting, messaging, and overall campaign efforts compared to their Democratic counterparts.

The NRCC's fundraising success is evident in the $33.4 million raised in the first quarter of 2024, with a substantial portion of $16.2 million collected in March alone. This brings the total fundraising for the 2024 election cycle to $124.7 million since January 2023.

The increased fundraising figures compared to the previous year reflect the heightened stakes of an election year, with the House facing a delicate balance of power with a slim majority. The recent departure of Rep. Mike Gallagher from Wisconsin further underscores the need for robust financial resources to defend swing-district incumbents and target new seats.

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise emphasized the potential for Republicans to secure additional seats in key states such as Michigan, Pennsylvania, Alaska, Ohio, and even California. Scalise pointed to issues like border security and rising costs of energy and groceries as key concerns driving voter sentiment.

As the election season unfolds, the NRCC's fundraising success positions House Republicans to mount a competitive campaign to retain and expand their majority, setting the stage for a closely watched electoral showdown in November.
