Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., along with a group of House Republicans, has reintroduced a proposal to ban the provision of chemical abortion drugs. The proposal aims to criminalize the prescribing, dispensing, distributing, or selling of any drug, medication, or chemical for the purpose of procuring or performing an abortion on a woman, with penalties of up to 25 years of imprisonment and fines.

The ban, as outlined in the proposal, includes exceptions for contraceptive agents administered before conception, treatment of miscarriages, and cases where a woman's life is in danger due to a physical disorder or illness arising from pregnancy. Importantly, the proposal ensures that women who receive chemical abortions will not face criminal prosecution.

Rep. Ogles emphasized the risks associated with chemical abortions, stating that they not only end a human life but also pose serious threats to the lives of mothers. He underscored his commitment to protecting women and girls and upholding the sanctity of life, framing it as both a moral duty and a political imperative.

In addition to the abortion ban proposal, Rep. Ogles recently put forth a Constitutional amendment that would modify presidential term limits, potentially allowing President Donald Trump to seek a third term in office. The proposed amendment restricts individuals from being elected to the presidency more than three times and limits additional terms after two consecutive terms.
