House Republicans Claim IRS Leaked Trump's Tax Information During Biden Admin: 'This is a MASSIVE Scandal'

Republicans in the House Judiciary Committee are claiming that a new disclosure reveals that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) leaked a larger amount of taxpayer data than previously admitted, and that information about President Donald Trump is among them.

Concretely, the House Judiciary GOP said on X that the IRS admitted that the actual figure was over 405,000, compared to the "over 70,000" claimed last year when Rep. Jim Jordan began inquiring into the matter.

"The IRS's admission confirms the Committee's suspicion and recent reports that show the scope of the leak was much broader than what the Biden Administration's IRS initially led the public to believe," the publication adds, calling it a "MASSIVE" scandal.

Last year Jordan began demanding that Heather Hill, the acting inspector general at the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), produce documents related to the investigation into the leak, allegedly produced by Charles Littlejohn.

Jordan requested communications between TIGTA, the Justice Department and the IRS, as well as its "findings and recommendations from its investigation into Littlejohn." The lawmaker stated last year that "Littlejohn applied to work as a consultant to the IRS with the express intention of accessing and disclosing then-President Donald Trump's tax returns."

Billionaire and Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) head Elon Musk reacted to the publication, saying on his social media platform X "Do you trust the government?" Other conservative personalities echoed the message, calling out anger at DOGE seeking to access non-public information.
