House Oversight Committee plans deposition for President's son

The House Oversight Committee maintains its investigation into alleged public corruption is serious and credible.

The Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer, opened up on the ongoing investigation into public corruption levels, establishing its legitimacy and detailing the body of evidence that's been accumulated over the past eight to nine months. He revealed the investigative process involved collecting a large number of documents, bank statements, emails, and text messages. Furthermore, there are plans to depose the President's son followed by a public hearing.

Echoing his sentiments, Chairman Jordan expressed disappointment at the subject's absence in a questioning session, considering it to be crucial to obtaining the facts necessary for the inquiry. The controversial unavailability has been attributed to a lack of a formal vote for an impeachment inquiry, an issue that's expected to be resolved shortly. Upon the resolution's passage, contempt proceedings may be considered as part of the investigation process.

Despite requests for a face-to-face deposition, it was decided that a better method of investigation would be an interview conducted privately, a method apparently not extended to the Biden family. Doubts and concerns were raised over financial dealings by and with the Bidens. These revolved around payments from foreign entities, with the lack of a clear answer or tangible evidence of wrongdoing spurring on the investigation for deeper answers.

Financial transactions linked to the Bidens have come under scrutiny, including allegations of dodgy loan repayments from dubious sources. The emphasis was placed on the necessity of abiding by requests from Congress to testify, and a lack of compliance could potentially result in contempt proceedings.

Moving forward, the investigation will look into potential violations and criminal activities related to financial dealings, in light of the evidence assembled. The Chairman ended the session emphasizing the gravity of an invitation to testify from Congress and hinted at the possibility of contempt proceedings should actions continue to obstruct the investigation. Despite the progress, no clear connection has yet been made between the allegations and Joe Biden, and the burden of proof continues to influence the course of the probe.
