HBO has released some fire news.
“House of the Dragon,” a prequel series to “Game of Thrones,” has been renewed for a second season, the cable network announced Friday.
The news comes less than a week after the long-awaited fantasy series — which centers on the ancestors of Mother of Dragons Daenerys Targaryen and is set 200 years before “GOT” — debuted on Sunday.
By the following night, HBO shared that the premiere — watched by nearly 10 million viewers on Sunday across both the cable channel and its streaming sister HBO Max — was a landmark one. The show boasts the largest series launch at the streamer and HBO’s largest audience for any original show.
“‘House of the Dragon’ features an incredibly talented cast and crew who poured their heart and soul into the production, and we’re ecstatic with viewers’ positive response,” Casey Boys, chief content officer at HBO and HBO Max, said in a statement.
Graham McTavish, who plays Ser Harrold Westerling on “House of the Dragon,” told the Daily News ahead of the premiere that his character is “a moral center in the story” amid “a world of vipers.”
