House of horrors where teens and baby killed in fire as man caged over 'suicide pact'

A man has been jailed for life for murdering three generations of the same family, including a 15-month-old baby, in a devastating house fire.

Appearing at Craigavon Crown Court, Daniel Sebastian Allen pleaded guilty to the murder of Roman Gossett, 16, Sabrina Gossett, 19 and young Morgana Quinn in February 2018.

The 32-year-old also pleaded guilty to arson and manslaughter by reason of a suicide pact in relation to the death of Denise Gossett, 45.

Judge Justice O’Hara told Allen: “Since you have pleaded guilty today to three murders I now sentence you to life imprisonment on each of those three counts.”

Allen will appear again in court on September 15 to determine the minimum amount he will spend behind bars.

Denise, her son Roman, daughter Sabrina, and Sabrina’s 15-month-old daughter Morgana were killed in the fire at their home in Derrylin, Northern Ireland.

They had moved to the remote village from Doncaster around 18 months before the tragedy.

Proceedings were previously told there had been “issues” identifying the family.

In the wake of the fire the owner of the home, who had tried to save the family from the flames, demolished the house as the “memories were too hard”.

Tommy Fee said he knocked down the home and planned to rebuild another home away from the site.

He told Sunday World : “What happened still haunts me, they were burned alive and I can never forget that.

"Me and my neighbours tried to save them, we smashed down a door and a window but the smoke was too much.

"We are supposed to move on in all aspects of our lives. Knocking the house down was part of the healing process for all of us, me and my family who were badly effected by what happened.

"I remember everything about that morning, standing outside in bare feet roaring and shouting, trying the back door, memories I have tried to forget but know none of us involved ever will."

He added he had trouble sleeping in the wake of the shocking incident.
