A House Motion was moved in the High Court here on Tuesday seeking a direction to restrain the leaders and the activists of ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi from blocking the roads on Wednesday and Thursday as part of protests against Centre’s paddy procurement policy.
The motion was moved by Kakatiya Lorry Owners Association. The petitioner wanted the HC to declare the proposed protests by TRS as illegal since they did not secure any permission from the police. The association pleaded with the court to instruct the top officials of the State, including Chief Secretary and DGP, to restrain the TRS leaders from blocking the roads in the guise of rasta roko and other demonstrations.
The protests were planned by the ruling TRS supremo and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to mount pressure on the Centre to purchase the entire paddy produced in the State. The plea is likely to be heard on Wednesday.
