House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries made a strong statement at a news conference in Brooklyn, pledging to combat Donald Trump and his agenda through various means.
Jeffries emphasized that Democrats would oppose Trump in Congress, in courts, and even 'in the streets.' He expressed determination to fight against what he referred to as Trump's 'extreme MAGA agenda.'
When questioned about New York City Mayor Eric Adams' interactions with Trump amid corruption charges, Jeffries refrained from commenting directly, stating that he would address the issue at the 'appropriate time.'

Jeffries highlighted the recent federal freeze attempted by Trump's budget office, labeling it as 'illegal, unlawful, and extreme.' He asserted that Democrats successfully halted the freeze and vowed to continue resisting such actions.
Furthermore, Jeffries criticized Trump for insinuating that diversity initiatives in government played a role in a recent tragic event near Washington, DC. He denounced Trump's remarks as 'shameful' and emphasized that there was no evidence to support such claims.
In response to Jeffries' statements, the White House characterized his remarks as 'a sick call for violence' and demanded an apology. However, a spokesperson for Jeffries dismissed the accusation, highlighting the Democratic Party's commitment to peaceful petitioning of the government.
