House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan recently addressed the possibility of special counsel Jack Smith testifying before Congress. Jordan stated that they are waiting to see if Smith will be asked to testify, emphasizing the importance of preserving all records for congressional oversight.
Jordan, along with GOP Rep. Barry Loudermilk, sent a letter to Smith instructing him to preserve his records and comply with previous requests. This comes amid speculation that President-elect Donald Trump may fire Smith and halt federal cases against him related to the 2020 election.
Regarding the president-elect's immigration agenda, Jordan mentioned plans for mass deportations of immigrants. He indicated that the initial deportations would involve coordinating with local law enforcement to remove undocumented migrants whose cases have been adjudicated and denied.
However, Jordan did not disclose specific details about who would be targeted in the deportations or whether 'Dreamers,' undocumented migrants brought to the US as children, would be included in future actions.
