Emergency services rushed to a residential street in Bristol and blocked a key route near the M32 this morning.
Fire crews from three stations and Avon and Somerset Police attended the scene after a blaze broke out in a home on Heath Street in Eastville shortly after 8am (June 20). Road users were told to avoid the area as fire engines blocked access on Stapleton Road, close to the M32 slip road by Freemantle Road. This allowed firefighters to attend to the blaze from several angles.
Avon Fire and Rescue revealed the cause of the blaze to be accidental thought to be due faulty electrics. Fire crews departed the scene at around 11am but police and Western Power remain on the scene for further enquiries.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue said: "Crews from Temple, Southmead and Kingswood were called to reports of the fire on Heath Street at 8.07am.
"Firefighters used three jets, two hose reels, thermal imaging cameras and a turntable ladder to extinguish the blaze. The cause of the fire is thought to be accidental, caused by faulty electrics."
The spokesperson added they understand police and Western Power remain on the scene. "As of 11am, all our crews completed their work at the scene," they added. All persons have been accounted for and no injuries have been reported.
Traffic was diverted away from the scene including two bus services - the 24 and the 506 - which have since resumed their usual routes. Stapleton Road reopened shortly after 10.45am and traffic has since returned to normal in the area.
