House Ethics Committee Meeting To Discuss Gaetz Investigation Report

U.S. Representative Gaetz departs after filing a motion to oust House Speaker McCarthy at the U.S. Capitol in Washington

The House Ethics Committee is currently in session to discuss the ethics report stemming from an investigation into former Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz. Gaetz, who has been nominated by President-elect Donald Trump to serve as the next attorney general pending Senate confirmation, has been the subject of allegations of misconduct.

The House panel's investigation focused on accusations of 'sexual misconduct and illicit drug use' involving Gaetz. The committee is deliberating on whether to make the report on its findings public. Gaetz recently resigned from his congressional position, effectively halting the ethics inquiry into his conduct.

Despite calls from both Democrats and some Republicans for the report to be disclosed, House Speaker Mike Johnson has expressed opposition to its release.

According to sources, the report may contain testimony from two women who alleged that they were compensated for engaging in 'sexual favors' with Gaetz. The women's attorney provided this information to the House Ethics Committee.
