House Committees Urge DOJ To Investigate Pro-Palestinian Outlet

A pro-Palestinian news outlet linked to Hamas is under scrutiny from three House committees, urging the Department of Justice to investigate. The Palestine Chronicle and its U.S. nonprofit are accused of violating laws, including providing support to a terrorist organization and tax-related offenses.

Israeli hostages taken by Hamas were found in the home of a contributor to The Palestine Chronicle, who was also a spokesman for the Hamas-run Gaza Labor Ministry. The outlet's ties to Iran were highlighted, with claims that its founder has connections to Iranian-funded media.

Lawmakers cited a federal statute penalizing support to foreign terrorist organizations, suggesting the outlet may be complicit in aiding Hamas. They also accused the nonprofit of misrepresenting finances on tax forms, prompting calls for a DOJ investigation.

The Ways & Means Committee initiated a separate probe and requested the IRS to revoke the nonprofit's tax-exempt status. Additionally, the nonprofit is facing a lawsuit from one of the Israeli hostages held at the contributor's home.
