A weather warning for thunderstorms has been issued by the Met Office after a day of sunshine on Merseyside.
The Met Office issued a yellow warning for heavy showers and thunderstorms for Saturday July 8.
Today Merseyside is basking in sunshine with temperatures predicted to reach 26C, however the clear skies and sunny weather will be short lived.
Jonathan Vautrey Operational Metrologist at the Met Office said: “There will be some heavy outbreaks of rains, possible turning into thunderstorms as we head into the afternoon, they may provide some torrential downpours, large hail and also frequent lightning in places.”

The weather warning is in place from 9am until 11:59pm on Saturday and the Met Office said there is a risk of "homes and businesses being flooded."
The forecaster added: "Flooding of homes and businesses could happen quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
"Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing a danger to life.
"Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.
"Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures. Some communities might become cut off if roads flood. Power cuts might occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost"
