The Met Office has forecast heavy rain until 12pm on October 7, however, come the afternoon there will be plenty of sunny spells as the mixed bag of autumnal weather continues. The day will also remain cool with highs of just 13°C.
Looking ahead to Saturday, those planning on travelling to Newcastle to watch the match against Brentford at St James' Park will be pleased to know that it will be a dry day with some sunshine, with temperatures remaining at 13°C.
A Met Office spokesman said: "The band of heavy rain will clear to the southeast by mid-morning. There will be sunny spells and scattered showers which will be heavy and thunder.
"Showers fading overnight and it will feel cooler and breezy. Saturday will be largely dry and bright with isolated showers and lighter winds."
