More storms on Friday but a brighter Saturday look to be in prospect for the people of the North East - though the phrase "April showers" may continue to feel appropriate.
After a wet and unsettled Thursday, Friday should bring more of the same according to the experts at the Met Office. Expect more sunny spells, more showers, the possibility of thunder and even potentially hail.
Beyond that, Saturday is set to prove welcome respite from the volatile weather, with a dry and bright day ahead, but the cloud will return on Sunday and Monday, though winds are going to remain light.

The Met Office forecasters said for Friday to expect the following: "Sunny spells, and showers developing Friday morning, turning heavy and thundery with a possibility of hail. Winds continue to ease through the day and showers dissipating again by the evening. Maximum temperature 11 °C."
And the outlook for Saturday to Monday is: "Dry and bright Saturday, before becoming cloudier Sunday and Monday but still some sunny spells at times. Winds light throughout and feeling warm in the sunshine."
