Hour by hour Great North Run weather forecast according to the Met Office

Participants in the Great North Run will have warm and dry conditions on race day, according to the Met Office.

When the majority of the runners get underway at 10:45am, the weather in Newcastle will be cloudy and 15°C. And if we consider the average finishing time of two hours and 26 minutes for the 13.1 mile course, it will still be cloudy when most get into South Shields - in fact, you'll have to finish after 4pm (a time of more than five and a quarter hours) to see any change in the skies if the forecast is spot on!

The Met Office said: "Low cloud, mist or fog soon clearing to leave a dry day with warm sunny spells, although the chance of a light coastal shower at first. Breezy along the coast. Maximum temperature 21 °C."
