Hour-by-hour forecast for Greater Manchester as temperatures cool

Mancunians all across the region will get a light break from the intense heat over the next couple of days as temperatures begin to dip below 20C.

It comes just before things begin to heat up again over the weekend, leading to extremely high temperatures on Monday and Tuesday. The Met Office is currently predicting temperatures to peak above 30C on both Monday and Tuesday and has issued an amber warning for heat, respectively.

It means that there could be population-wide adverse health effects across large parts of England, leading to potentially serious illness or danger to life. It could also result in delays to roads as closures take place while also affecting both rail and air travel.

Fortunately, today will be nowhere near that hot, peaking at 19C today. For the rest of the northern region, the Met Office said: "Bright spells to begin the day, but scattered showers developing, with the chance of a few heavier showers, mainly in the north of the region. Some places staying dry. Slightly cooler than Wednesday but feeling warm in any sunny spells. Maximum temperature 21 °C."

For tonight, it adds: "Any isolated showers around at first soon clearing, leaving an increasingly fine evening with some sunshine. Clear periods at first overnight but clouding over during the early hours. Minimum temperature 11 °C."
