Thousands of keen spectators have gathered in the small Maine town of Houlton to witness today's eclipse. The event has drawn a larger crowd than expected, with the clear blue sky adding to the excitement. According to Jane Torres of the Greater Houlton Chamber of Commerce, the turnout has surpassed all expectations.
Houlton, home to about 6,000 residents, has been meticulously prepared for the influx of visitors. To ensure a smooth viewing experience, organizers have arranged for an additional 100 portable toilets to accommodate the growing crowd.
One key aspect of eclipse viewing is the need for protective eyewear. Torres mentioned that nearly 59,000 pairs of glasses have already been distributed to eager viewers. With only around a thousand pairs remaining from the initial order of 60,000, attendees are advised to bring their own glasses to avoid missing out on this rare celestial event.
