There are few things more relaxing than chilling out by the pool on holiday, but, as many of us know all too well, poor sun-lounger etiquette can make things far more stressful than they ought to be.
Now one holidaymaker has captured the moment that a no-nonsense hotel worker took revenge on some cheeky sun-lounger hoggers, ensuring they wouldn't be trying the same trick again in a hurry.
In footage shared via TikTok, two sun-loungers can be seen draped with towels, claimed by unseen guests. Little did the brazen sunbathers know, the hotel worker had actually set a timer for 30 minutes.
When nobody returned to the loungers within this time period, he decided to take action, folding up their towels neatly and popping them into plastic bags, along with their pink flamingo inflatable.
The employee, dubbed the "towel police" by TikTok user John McGowan, then headed off, bags in hand, leaving the long-vacant sunbeds free for anyone who wanted to use them.
John, who goes by the username @perfectpicx, declared that "justice" had been served, and plenty of others were in firm agreement.
One person applauded: "Well done to this resort, hope others take note, might make people's hols less stressful if towel dashes don't happen anymore."
Another commented: "All resorts need to have someone monitoring this sun cot situation. I've seen people save their sun cots from morning until late afternoon."
A third person approved: "Love this. So rude and think they are entitled."
Of course, many holidaymakers will leave their sunbed unattended while they swim, nip to the loo, or grab another drink, and may be confused as to how long exactly they can leave their spot before it becomes fair game.
Etiquette expert William Hanson previously told the Mirror: "Reserving sun loungers with a towel for longer than 30 minutes is a big no-no, beyond that grace period it's first come first served."
