Part of a hotel in the winemaking town of Kroev on the Mosel River in western Germany collapsed late Tuesday night, resulting in a tragic incident. The collapse left one person dead, and emergency services are working tirelessly to rescue the eight individuals believed to be trapped in the wreckage.

At the time of the collapse, there were a total of fourteen people inside the hotel. Fortunately, five individuals managed to escape unharmed, while the remaining nine were trapped within the building. Among those trapped is a child, who, thankfully, is physically unharmed and in contact with emergency workers.

Witnesses reported hearing a loud bang and observing a large cloud of dust following the collapse, indicating the sudden and unexpected nature of the incident. Authorities swiftly evacuated 31 people from the vicinity of the damaged building as a precautionary measure.

As of early Wednesday morning, emergency services confirmed one fatality but have yet to recover the body. They are in communication with the eight individuals still trapped, some of whom have sustained serious injuries. The rescue operation is described as extremely challenging, requiring cautious entry into the unstable building.

Approximately 250 emergency workers, including drone specialists and rescue dogs, are on-site to assist with the operation. The cause of the collapse remains unknown at this time, and investigations are ongoing to determine the factors that led to this tragic event.

Kroev, a town with around 2,200 residents, is situated in a picturesque area along the Mosel River near the popular resort town of Traben-Trarbach. The community is now grappling with the aftermath of this devastating incident as emergency responders continue their efforts to rescue those still trapped in the collapsed building.
