High temperatures mean Merseyrail trains will face speed restrictions this afternoon.
Disruption is expected between Waterloo and Seaforth and Litherland until 5pm today (June 10) due to the weather. Merseyside is basking in sunshine today and the temperature is expected to peak at 28C in Waterloo at 5pm, according to the latest MetOffice forecast.
As a result, Merseyrail services between Hunts Cross and Southport may be delayed.

The speed restriction follows disruption on the Merseyrail network earlier today. A fire next to the tracks at Waterloo resulted in services on the Southport to Hunts Cross line facing delays and disruption at around 10am.
However, this was resolved shortly later. There have also been other issues and cancellations on the Ormskirk line and early terminations on other parts of the network.
