Hot mic captures broadcasters’ hilarious corn dog love during South Carolina-Texas A&M game

Rule number one in sports broadcasting: Always check to see if your mic is on.

During Saturday’s South Carolina-Texas A&M game, the SEC Network broadcast showed some B-roll footage of some ridiculously gigantic corn dogs on display before cutting back into the game. Harmless enough, right?

Broadcasters Jordan Rodgers and Tom Hart were on the call, and one of them — we’re not totally sure which one — got a glimpse of those deep-fried dogs, and, uh, didn’t realize they were on air while providing commentary for the corn dog footage.

Let’s just say… we knew what this guy was going to get for dinner once the game was over.

Wow. “Talk to me dirty, corn dogs.”

It’s one thing to want a corn dog, but one of those guys sounded ready to jump out of the broadcasting booth and run out to devour that entire row of corn dogs without breathing.

It seemed like Rodgers and Hart took the accidental on-air corndog lust in stride, with Rodgers munching down on one of South Carolina’s finest corn dogs later in the broadcast, as well as a turkey leg shared with Hart. Something called a “donut burger” also factored into the equation.

We’ll have what they’re having.

While all kids and cardiologists needed to be shielded from whatever just happened above, this was another reminder that, on college football Saturday, even innocent B-roll of state fair corn dogs can turn into a moment you won’t forget.

And, y’know, if you happen to be near South Carolina anytime soon, we hear the corn dogs are delightful this time of year.
