Hosting a future NFL draft still in play for Denver

It won’t be within the next two years, but hosting a future NFL draft remains a possibility for the city of Denver and the Broncos.

The NFL awarded the 2025 NFL draft to Green Bay this week after previously designating Detroit as the host city for the 2024 NFL draft. Perhaps the league will pick Denver for 2026 or 2027.

Last summer, news broke that Denver plans to bid for a future draft sometime between 2025 and 2027. It’s easy to see why Denver wants to host given that the 2023 draft generated an estimated $125 million in economic impact for Kansas City.

This year’s draft drew more than 312,000 fans, according to the Chiefs.

The Broncos will undoubtedly want to host a future Super Bowl as well if they build a brand-new super stadium with a retractable roof. Such a scenario would likely be a decade or more down the road, though. The draft could arrive within the next three years if the city wins a bid.
