Baltimore residents attempted to drown out a news reporter's live broadcast outside Gilman School, the prestigious all-boys school Luigi Mangione graduated from as valedictorian in 2016.

"First, let's talk about the community reaction to all of this. As you can hear behind me, there is certainly some hostility to even the fact that media is covering this story," Shannon Lilly, a Fox Baltimore reporter stated during her live report.

"You can see this leaf blower behind me has told us he will not leave until we do," Lilly added, showing a man with his back to the camera powering a leaf blower. "So, we are definitely seeing some of the community members reacting not happy that media is out here covering this story in general. Others have been murmuring, they're saddened by this news."

Lilly was broadcasting outside the school as classes were beginning Tuesday morning following Mangione's arraignment Monday night.

Mangione was charged with one count of second-degree murder, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, one count of second-degree possession of a forged document, and one count of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, according to documents obtained by CNN.

The alleged killer has deep ties to the area as he hails from a wealthy real estate family, per the New York Times, and his cousin is Baltimore County Delegate Nino Mangione.

Mangione was also the valedictorian of his 2016 class, and his speech made the rounds on social media. In it, he hailed his classmates "courage" and "imagination." Tuition at the prestigious school costs $37,690 per year for high school students.
