The hostel where police believe the person of interest in the shooting of UnitedHealthcare’s CEO was staying has posted a notice to other guests, stating that it is cooperating with police in the investigation.
The notice, displayed on one of the internal doors of the hostel, informs guests about the presence of law enforcement and media in the area. It emphasizes that the well-being of guests, volunteers, staff, and all individuals at the property is the top priority, and the team is actively working with the authorities handling the matter.
Niki Dilley, a 23-year-old tourist from New Zealand who checked in on Tuesday, shared a photo of the notice. Dilley, accompanied by a friend, is staying in a four-person room on the fourth floor. Despite the ongoing investigation, he mentioned that he did not encounter the person of interest during his stay, noting the constant flow of people in and out of the building. Although he saw a police officer on Wednesday night, he was not interviewed.
Reflecting on the situation, Dilley described the week as interesting and observed that there has not been a mass exodus of guests. He noticed various groups, including a school group of about 25 people, small groups, and several individuals within the hostel.
A spokesperson for HI USA, the hostel management, stated, “We are fully cooperating with the NYPD and, as this is an active investigation, cannot comment at this time.” The hostel's commitment to supporting the authorities in their inquiries remains evident as they navigate through this challenging situation.
