Hostage Families Forum Strongly Supports Call For Hostage Deal

Protest demanding a hostage deal, in Tel Aviv

A campaign group representing relatives of hostages held in Gaza has voiced strong support for a joint statement from the United States and 16 other nations urging Israel and Hamas to finalize a hostage deal. The Hostage Families Forum emphasized their backing for the call made by leaders from countries including the US, Argentina, France, and the UK, urging Hamas to accept the proposed agreement and release the hostages, many of whom are citizens of these nations.

The signatories of the joint statement have described the ceasefire and hostage proposal as a crucial starting point for bringing an end to the conflict in Gaza. They have urged Hamas to close the agreement that has been put forward by Israel.

As of now, Israel has not provided an official response to the joint statement. The prime minister's spokesperson, David Mencer, stated that Israel refrains from commenting on the day-to-day negotiations and discussions during the ongoing talks. Mencer acknowledged the letter from the White House and the state leaders but mentioned that Israel has nothing further to add at this time.

US President Joe Biden recently outlined a three-phase proposal aimed at resolving the conflict in Gaza. However, both Hamas and Israel have not yet expressed their full support for the plan. The situation remains fluid as negotiations continue between the involved parties.
