Host of local talent to play live gig in aid of Portrush skatepark plans this Christmas

Local talent from across Northern Ireland are set to play an exciting gig in aid of plans to develop a new skatepark on the north coast.

'Just CAUS' is a night of good tunes, fundraising and craic held at the Atlantic Bar in Portrush on December 17.

The concert is in aid of the Causeway Association of Urban Sports (CAUS), a lobbying group started in 2013, to promote urban sports and to campaign for adequate resources and facilities within the Causeway area.

The night will host a range of big names including Axis OF, Sister Ghost, smallmint, Rory Powers, WHON and Many A Son.

Organiser Paul Shevlin told Belfast Live that the gig is a celebration of the passion that CAUS has for the local area and another needed push towards the final goal of getting Portrush a skatepark.

Paul said: "There has been a community interest in building Portrush an urban sports park since the 1970s. The charity CAUS have taken on this responsibility on behalf of a huge community of skaters, BMXers, roller skaters: young and old.

"They have made some fantastic process in recent months but due to the nature of their work they need funding to get this project over the line.

"This gig is just a small way of saying thank you to CAUS and the whole community of activists, as well as a practical way to raise money for CAUS, to ensure they can continue the fight.

"The bands/acts are all incredible local talents and passionate about helping achieve the outcome. It’s going to be a big night for the North Coast and certainly not one to miss."

The ultimate aim of the Causeway Association of Urban Sports is to seek the funding to build a free, outdoor, urban sports plaza that would accommodate skating and other sports in a safe, welcoming, landscaped area incorporating seating and other features that could be enjoyed by locals and tourists alike.
