Shocking photographs have show the injuries sustained by a 15-year-old boy in a horror knife attack.
Two boys aged 15 and 14 were stabbed and beaten on Saturday afternoon during the attack in Breck Road, Anfield.
The boys were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The 15-year-old has undergone a blood transfusion and the other boy has had surgery.
Two men, aged 24 and 25, were arrested shortly after the incident on suspicion of wounding. They have both been released on bail.
Now the family of the 15-year-old boy who was stabbed in the attack have released photographs of him in hospital.
A relative said: "He was stabbed in the side and has suffered internal bleeding. His kidney and spleen were damaged. He was also hit over the head with a pole. He has already undergone a blood transfusion and might have to undergo further surgery. "
The family member said the two boys were close friends. She said: "Yes he wanted to know how his friend is. They are close friends. He is in shock and we are all devestated."
The relative told the ECHO that the boys were attacked after throwing waterballons on Saturday afternoon. The incident happened at around 4pm on Breck Road in Anfield.
The boys were taken to hospital by ambulance. Police have described their condition as stable. Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
A police spokesman said: "Two men, a 24 and 25 year old who were believed to be involved in the incident, were located on Stonehall Street and arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding a short time after.
"They were taken to custody and have both been released on conditional bail. Investigations into the wider circumstances of the incident are ongoing."
