Hospice CEO links up with South Lanarkshire action group for third sector networking event

East Kilbride and Strathaven community groups are being encouraged to have their voices heard at a networking event.

VASLan (Voluntary Action South Lanarkshire) have linked up with Connected East Kilbride to bring together third sector organisations across East Kilbride.

Gordon McHugh, CEO of Kilbryde Hospice, told Lanarkshire Live : ”Connected East Kilbride are pleased, on behalf of VASLan, to have been nominated to deliver four third sector locality network events across East Kilbride and Strathaven.

"The partners of Connected East Kilbride being Kilbryde Hospice, Healthy and Active in East Kilbride and The Citizens Advice Bureau East Kilbride, are working together to consolidate our relationship with the East Kilbride locality third sector providers for the benefit of East Kilbride and Strathaven’s citizens and communities.”

The proposed Locality Network Events are to help voluntary services to come together to share key information, discuss the challenges affecting the third sector in the locality, share good practice and offer support where needed.

The event will also help organisations to understand one other so that providers will be better able to respond to the challenges ahead given the continued increasing pressures and increased need placed on funding.

Gordon added: “We all have shared principles and values on how we support our communities and have developed meaningful activities for all ages.

"It is more important than ever, that we work well together to do the best we can collaborating with our communities, stakeholders and partners.”

The stakeholder event is being held on Tuesday, September 27 from 9.30am within the Village Centre in East Kilbride.

To book your space call Julie Myles on 01355 202020 or e-mail Julie.myles@kilbrydehospice.org.uk

There is also a survey of local providers being used to set the agenda for the meeting which is also available on request through the same contact at the hospice.
