This is the horrifying moment a car overturned in a busy high street after clipping a parked vehicle.
Emergency services were called to Linlithgow high street at around 3.15pm on Friday May 26 after the grey Cupra crossover mounted the side of a blue Vauxhall Corsa and was catapulted up, rolling over into the middle of the road. Edinburgh Live reports that the car had a mother and daughter inside.
We previously reported how a woman was seen to be helped out of the Spanish-branded hatchback following the prang. Shay Ritchie, 25, captured the incident in full on her dashboard-mounted camera.
She said: "I’m honestly raging as I’m due to be getting my new car hopefully next month and didn’t expect that to happen. I was just driving along the high street as I was on my way through to Edinburgh and the traffic was kinda busy on my side of the road so I stopped as I was waiting for it to move.
"It started to move slightly so I proceeded and then an oncoming Cupra has driven too close to the parked cars on the side of the road and it’s ended up clipping the blue Corsa."
She continued: "It then landed on its roof all while coming into my lane so I reacted as best as I could and managed to swerve out the way but my car still got hit at the back. The drivers got checked in the ambulance that was on scene and then got taken into a taxi afterwards but don’t think they got taken to the hospital.
"I had to go up to be checked as I’m currently recovering from jaw surgery but just wanted to check everything was okay as I did get pains afterwards."
Shay's red Mini was struck at the back during the collision. The road was also closed around two hours to remove any debris.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.15pm on Friday, 26 May, 2023, police were called to a report of a two-vehicle crash in the High Street area of Linlithgow.
"Emergency services attended and there were no reports of any injuries. The road was cleared and reopened around 5.30pm.”
