A DEAD dog was found in a suitcase by a group of children in a Scottish town.
The Staffordshire bull terrier cross had been bundled into a purple wheeled holdall, covered with a child's pink fleece top, and dumped on Alexander Street in Airdrie.
Youngsters were playing in a nearby wooded area on Sunday, November 12 when they came across the case.
Cops are now working with the Scottish SPCA to identify any witnesses who may have seen the suitcase or anyone carrying it.
Scottish SPCA inspector, Robyn Myszor, said: “The dog was a white and tan male entire Staffordshire bull terrier cross.
"He was roughly around three years old and was wearing a black leather collar with a silver and gold dog on it.
“He was found by a group of children in a wooded area and the police were contacted.
“We are appealing for anyone who has seen someone with this particular holdall within the area around that time.
“If anyone has any information surrounding the circumstances, they should call the Scottish SPCA confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999."
